Tafsir (Interpretation) of Ayah 18
1. Who Are the "Deaf, Dumb, and Blind"?
This verse refers to hypocrites (Munafiqeen)—people who claim faith but reject truth. Their hearts are:
- Deaf – They ignore Allah's message
- Dumb – They refuse to speak the truth
- Blind – They see signs but deny them
Ibn Kathir explains:
"They are deprived of guidance because they chose disbelief. Allah sealed their hearts, so they cannot repent."
2. Why "They Will Not Return"?
- Their stubbornness hardens their hearts
- They prefer worldly gains over truth
- Without sincere repentance, their fate is sealed
Example:
A man hears the Quran but mocks it. Over time, his heart becomes numb—he can't even recognize truth anymore.
Key Lessons for Muslims Today
1. Avoid Hypocrisy in Faith
- Don't just claim Islam—live it
- Pray with sincerity, not for show
2. Seek Knowledge & Reflection
- Read Quran with understanding
- Ask: "Am I ignoring any truth?"
3. Repent Before It's Too Late
Allah says:
"Indeed, Allah does not forgive associating others with Him, but forgives what is less than that for whom He wills." (Quran 4:48)
Action Step:
Make sincere Tawbah (repentance) today.
Conclusion – A Personal Reflection
This Ayah is a warning—but also a mercy. Allah could have left us blind, but He gave us the Quran as guidance.
Ask yourself:
- Am I hearing the Quran but not listening?
- Am I seeing signs but not reflecting?
Let's break free from spiritual deafness. Let's return to Allah before it's too late.
📌 Next Step:
Read Surah Al-Baqarah Ayat 19 to understand Allah's metaphor of "darkness, thunder, and lightning" for hypocrisy.
